Ramadan Daily Routine (Step-by-Step)
This lesson provides a clear daily structure for Ramadan, from before Fajr until sleep, balancing worship, work, rest, and consistency.
The goal of a Ramadan routine
Ramadan is not meant to be chaotic or exhausting. A simple routine helps protect prayer, fasting, and the heart.
Step 1: Before Fajr – Suḥūr & Intention
Wake up for suḥūr, eat lightly, drink water, and intend to fast the coming day.
- Delay suḥūr close to Fajr if possible.
- Renew intention in the heart.
- Pray Fajr on time.
Step 2: Morning – Fajr to Work/Study
Begin the day with Fajr, remembrance, and Qur’an.
- Pray Sunnah and obligatory Fajr.
- Short Qur’an reading or dhikr.
- Maintain good character at work or school.
Step 3: Daytime – Guarding the Fast
The day is about protecting the fast, not only from food, but from sins of the tongue and heart.
- Avoid arguments and idle speech.
- Be patient with hunger and fatigue.
- If provoked, remember: “I am fasting.”
Step 4: Before Maghrib – Duʿāʾ & Reflection
The time before ifṭār is a moment of acceptance.
- Make duʿāʾ sincerely.
- Prepare ifṭār calmly.
- Avoid wasting this time in distraction.
Step 5: Maghrib – Ifṭār & Prayer
Break the fast simply and pray Maghrib.
- Break the fast immediately at sunset.
- Pray Maghrib before a heavy meal.
- Thank Allah for completing the day.
Step 6: Night – ʿIshāʾ, Tarāwīḥ & Rest
The night is for prayer and recovery.
- Pray ʿIshāʾ.
- Attend Tarāwīḥ if able.
- Sleep with intention to wake for suḥūr.
